Hope City Intensive
The Hope City Intensive (HCI) is a training program
to equip and prepare intercessory missionaries to minister in the inner
city. Alongside the core value of intimacy with Jesus, HCI also focuses
on a lifestyle of prayer, character development, physical fitness,
healthy eating, and promoting unity in the Body of Christ. Participants
grow in the knowledge and love of God through Bible study and prayer;
they also develop the life skills they need to minister in an inner city
context by leading in the Hope City prayer room, serving in the soup
kitchen, participating in the food distribution project, and ministering
to gang members, drug addicts, and the homeless.
Hands-on training is complemented by classroom instruction on
biblical themes of intimacy with Jesus, ministry in the power of the
Holy Spirit, justice, and the emotions of God as expressed through the
bridal paradigm. The participants hear messages from leaders within the
Hope City staff, and from Mike Bickle and others at IHOP–KC’s main
services. Whether studying the Bible, learning the harp and bowl model
of worship and prayer, or spending time with the homeless, ministry at
Hope City is done while maintaining the heart commitment to fall deeper
in love with Jesus.
